The Coldest Village on Earth

Have you ever thought of living on the coldest village ever? Can you imagine how your life would be? Oymyakon , Russia is the coldest village on earth . It’s known as the Pole of Cold , this northern Russian village averages -51°C in January, with an all-time record low temperature of -71°C in February of 2013.  It’s unbelievable right? Imagine yourself living in that village , it’s not easy at all , when you think of the low temperature -71°C , you will feel cold and you will start to quiver . if you forgot your pet outside, of course it will freeze and die.

So Living in such villages requires some real challenges: if cars are not parked in a heated garage
they have to be running all day elsewhere they will not function , eye classes are known to freeze to
faces  , so guys you have to stay inside your house to protect yourself ,phone batteries don’t survive
in the cold, fruit and vegetables are rarely eaten and these people depend on reindeer meat , horse
meat , fish and milk from their farms. Even you will not have the chance to enjoy eating fruits &
vegetables because  of the low temperature . But the shocking fact is that real people do live
there , there number is approximately 500 hundreds and they only have one store to provide
provisions to residents and one petrol station. Fur is their main source of warmth , they can’t follow
new trends .

Oymyakon is a unique place and its visited by tourists during summer time . It seems that nobody
dares to visit such village during winter because not everyone can live under such cold conditions.

Well while Im reading your post, just from the description of this country I felt cold and I could imagine how the life of the people living there is. In fact weather conditions have very high influence on how people use to live and perform their different jobs and tasks. But Im sure that these people are used to live in such country and they developed special ways to accommodate in such weather conditions, otherwise they have chosen another place to live in.

I cannot imagine that even, I adore summer season and its warmth. It might be a nice and unusual experience if for a day long... but living there sounds impossible

Oh my God!! only three months in a year in Lebanon we have cold weather and not as that as this cold village and we won't stop nagging. Those people live there get used for that place. They accommodate with such weather. I can't imagine myself live with a country that rarely have sun.

Really interesting! I have never heard about that village or even have known that such village with such weather conditions do exist. Would never think of visiting it neither at summer nor at winter time.

I don't know if I am going to have the chance and visit that country. Since I usually like winter and the cozy feeling I gain at this season but I think it is boring to live in a cold weather permanently. Thanks for this information anyways Fatima
